This Fairfield home had a custom roof that had been leaking for some time. When the homeowner made an insurance claim, the insurer's assessor came out and delivered some bad news: the roof was under-pitched and therefore uninsurable. It's an extremely common finding on older custom and flat roof sections — but that doesn't make it any less frustrating for homeowners caught in the middle.
A closer inspection confirmed a second problem: the side flashings where the roof met the wall had never been properly pressure flashed. Water was tracking in at the junction on every significant rainfall.
The fix was straightforward. We installed Colorbond Kliplok to a compliant pitch, giving the insurer what they need, and correctly pressure flashed the wall junctions. Job done in a day.
